How is Shodhana Chikitsa administered?

  1. The patient reclines on a cozy surface, typically on their back, with their head slightly raised.
  2. A regular stream of heated milk, oil, or other liquid is applied in a pattern across the forehead.
  3. Depending on the needs of the patient and the length of the session, therapy sessions normally last between thirty and sixty minutes.
  4. To promote relaxation, calming music and a comfortable setting are typically maintained throughout the session.

It is imperative to speak with a licensed therapist or an Ayurvedic practitioner before attempting Shirodhara at home or without medical supervision. They are able to evaluate your individual needs and suggest the right liquids, temperature, and length of time for the therapy. Furthermore, people with specific medical conditions—like high blood pressure or skin infections—should avoid Shirodhara without first speaking with their physician.

Nasya

Herbal oils, powders, or decoctions are administered through the nose during an Ayurvedic process called “nasya.”

By clearing the sinus passages, head, and neck area, this therapy seeks to enhance general health and wellbeing.

Advantages of Nasya

  1. Sinus and respiratory health: By clearing the sinuses and nasal passages, Nasya aids to improve breathing and lessen congestion.
  2. Migraine and headache relief: Nasya helps ease tension headaches and migraines by op ening up the nasal passages and encouraging relaxation.
  3. Enhanced cognitive function: It is said that by opening up channels connected to the min d and senses, Nasya can enhance mental clarity, focus, and memory.
  4. Pain reduction in the jaw and neck: By relaxing the jaw and neck muscles, the therapy can help reduce pain and stiffness there and improve blood circulation.
  5. Preventing gray hair and early aging: Nasya is believed to replenish the head and scalp, which may postpone the appearance of gray hair and enhance the general well-being of the skin.

The procedure of nasya

  1. Nasya is typically conducted after an oil massage (Abhyanga) and steam bath (Swedana) to open pores and prepare the body for treatment.
  2. The person assumes a comfortable sitting posture, ideally with their head slightly forward.
  3. Using a dropper or a special instrument known as a Nasya pot, a tiny amount of therapeutic oil, powder, or decoction is carefully injected into one nostril at a time.
  4. The patient is instructed to take a small sniff and release the medication via their lips in order to let it enter their nasal passages and reach their head and neck.
  5. Depending on the needs of the patient and the advice of the therapist, a therapy session usually lasts between ten and fifteen minutes.

In keeping with other Ayurvedic treatments, you must speak with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner before to introducing Nasya into your daily regimen. Together with recommending the right drugs and dose for the therapy, they can evaluate your unique demands.

BASTI

The goal of the traditional Ayurvedic treatment known as “basta” is to nourish and cleanse the large intestine, or colon.

“Bast” (meaning vessel or container) is a Sanskrit word and is where the term “Basti” origin ates. Additional names for this therapy include “Anuvasana Becca” and “Niruha Basti.”

Basti treatments come in two varieties

  2. Niruha Basti: Using this technique, a small dam is made around the rectum, and a pool of medicinal oils and decoctions is kept within the colon. The therapeutic liquid that is held in the colon aids in colon cleansing and nourishment.

A few advantages that Basti provides are as follows

  2. Constipation Reduction: Regular Basti treatments can reduce other bowel-related problems as well as chronic constipation.
  3. Enhances Immunity: Basti aids in immune system enhancement by encouraging improved digestion and colon cleansing.
  4. Lowers Stress and Anxiety: The therapeutic atmosphere promotes calmness and relaxation, which lowers stress and anxiety levels.
  5. Hemorrhoids, piles, and even some forms of backaches are among the medical issues that basti is known to relieve.
