Supporting Your Loved Ones Through Healthy Ageing

Watching a parent slow down is difficult, and knowing what will actually help is harder. Our role is to assess honestly, treat gently, and give your family a clear plan you can follow at home between visits.

Strength and mobility they can feel

Therapies aimed at easing stiffness and keeping your parent moving on their own, so daily activities stay possible for longer.

A plan the family can follow

Simple home guidance on diet, oil application and safe movement, explained clearly enough for any family member to carry out.

Treatment that respects their limits

Intensity and duration decided after assessing strength, so a session never leaves them exhausted or unsteady on their feet.

Care that works with their doctor

Existing prescriptions and treating physicians are part of the plan. Nothing is stopped or replaced without their doctor's involvement.

Frequently asked

What is Ayurvedic geriatric care?

Ayurvedic geriatric care is the management of age-related health concerns using classical Ayurvedic principles, drawing on Rasayana (rejuvenative) and Vata-balancing approaches. It covers joint stiffness, digestion, sleep, strength and general wellbeing in older adults, with therapy intensity and diet adjusted for age, physical strength and existing medication rather than following a standard protocol.

Yes, when the treatment is properly adapted — but suitability is decided patient by patient, not by age alone. The physician assesses current strength, digestive capacity, mobility and ongoing prescriptions before recommending anything. Some therapies are modified or avoided entirely for frail patients. If a treatment isn't appropriate for your parent, we'll say so directly.

The gentler classical therapies are generally best suited: Abhyanga (medicated oil massage), Kizhi, Shirodhara, Padabhyanga, Kati Basti and mild internal formulations. Full-intensity Panchakarma is usually modified for older patients — shorter duration, lower intensity — so treatment supports strength rather than depleting it. The specific combination depends on the condition and the patient's current capacity.

Yes — joint stiffness and reduced mobility are among the most common reasons families bring older patients to us. In Ayurveda these are largely understood as Vata imbalance. Treatment usually combines external oil therapies and Kizhi with internal medicines and gentle, age-appropriate movement guidance, aimed at easing stiffness and helping patients stay independent in daily activities. Improvement varies with the condition and how long it has persisted.

These are two of the areas where patients often notice change earliest. Disturbed sleep is supported through therapies such as Shirodhara and Padabhyanga along with evening routine corrections; weak digestion is addressed by strengthening agni through diet adjustments and mild internal formulations. Both are approached as part of the whole picture rather than treated separately.

Usually yes, at least initially. Most treatment plans involve a course of therapy sessions over a few weeks, followed by periodic reviews so medicines and therapies can be adjusted as strength changes. Between visits, most of the care happens at home through diet and daily routine — we give the family clear instructions so nothing depends on guesswork.

In most cases yes, and many of our patients continue their prescribed medication throughout treatment. Please bring all current prescriptions and recent reports to the first consultation so the physician can plan around them and avoid interactions. Never stop or reduce a prescribed medicine on your own — that decision belongs to the doctor who prescribed it.
